University Housing Services (UHS) is committed to meeting the changing needs of its students by providing a quality living-learning experience in a diverse and inclusive residential environment. UHS seeks to creatively stimulate student growth outside of the classroom in the areas of civility, responsibility, and independence.
University Housing is more than a place to sleep! Here you will find a sense of community, freedom (along with responsibility), convenient dining, leadership opportunities, facilities and services, and a helpful staff.
You can find out when to apply for housing, and read the On-Campus Housing Policy and learn more about Transfer and Continuing Student Lifestyle Floor.
On-campus housing applications will be mailed to students admitted for the fall term beginning in early February. It is best to complete and return the application to University Housing Services as soon as possible.
However, please be sure to consult the On-Campus Housing Policy before you make any decisions regarding housing for the fall term.
Students transferring to the University within their first two years of high school graduation must reside in University-operated residence halls until they reach 60 credit hours or have been out of high school two or more years, whichever comes first. This policy is applicable in-so-far as space is available in university residence halls.
If you believe you should be exempt from this policy, you may apply for an exemption by contacting University Housing Services or visiting the On-Campus Housing Policy Web site. It is essential to carefully read through the On-Campus Housing Policy in order to best understand your options regarding living while at Illinois State University.
If you are an upper-level student and have received a letter from University Housing, please contact them at (309)-438-8611 or visit the University Housing Web site. For information regarding off-campus living, please visit the “Off-Campus Services” section of the Dean of Students Web site or call (309) 438-2151.
